Rosemarie Yerbury Foster began her interest in the visual arts in 1954
in Cloverdale, B.C. Canada. She has been particularly drawn towards the
oil paint medium choosing flora and fauna as her primary subjects.
As an adult Rosemarie returned to her artistic studies
inspired by the artist Peter Sawatzky. Her starting point was with the
Art Instruction School of Minneapolis, Minnesota. She has also studied
with the Northern Lights School of Art and developed her understanding
of colour theory with instruction provided by the Emily Carr Institute
of Art and Design. Dedicated to searching for her own voice as an artist
she has also studied under other artists to explore their techniques as
a route to her own self-discovery. These workshops included those by Tom
Lynch, Sharyn Olfert, Brent Heighten (SFCA), Marilyn Timms (SFCA) and
Janice Robertson (SFCA).
As a visual artist she focuses primarily on landscape
and nature portraiture. While she is creating her paintings she finds
her motivation and artistic mood from listening to classical music. Currently
Rosemarie is utilizing the mediums of acrylics, watercolours, India Ink
and pastels to create soft pastorial moods to communicate her love of
nature and the South Thompson-Kamloops region where she has resided with
her husband for 32 years.
Rosemarie is a member of the Shuswap Lake Festival of
the Arts, Kamloops Art Gallery, Community Art Council of Kamloops and
Federation of Canadian Artists where she has achieved her Active Member
Status. Rosemarie was instrumental in the formation of a chapter of the
Federation of Canadian artists in the Thompson, Nicola, Shuswap regions.
